Prayer Email archive: (05/24/2000) appropriating His healing |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: appropriating His healing [Psalms 107:20] He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions. In the last email, we studied that by His stripes we were healed [1 Peter 2:24]. How then do we appropriate God's healing in our lives? We've covered one aspect of that in one of our previous prayer notes: Faith drawing miracles. Another aspect is by confessing His Word. He sent His Word and healed my diseases. His Word has creative power. [John 1:1-3] 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In the beginning God said, "Let there be light" and there was light. God spoke things into being. And we find in the book of John that Jesus is the Word, He is the creative force in our lives. He is also the High Priest of our confession. [Hebrews 3:1] Therefore, holy brethren, who share in a heavenly call, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession. (RSV) So, how do we appropriate our healing that He has wrought for us on the Cross? By confessing His Word and speaking the creative force into the situation. Try it. When you wake up in the morning before you face the day, take His Word and confess it and appropriate it into your life by personalizing His Word to your situation. E.g. (these personalized confessions are taken from a track from my church) By His wounds I am healed of ... [1 Peter 2:24] Jesus took my infirmities and carried my sickness ... [Matt 8:17] I bless the Lord for He has forgiven all my sins and healed all my diseases [Psalms 103:2-3] 2. New prayer requests: i. inner healing -- guest (no name given) The Holy Spirit has recently revealed to me an area that needs to be healed in my life. God is leading me to circumstances and places where this area(men and dating) is being brought to light and this is not very pleasant. Please pray that I will submit these issues totally to God and allow the Holy Spirit to complete the work in me that has already begun. I know that God has something for me to do for His kingdom after I am totally free. Thank you for your prayers. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=173&table=prayer&reptable=replies ii. Taylor the Teen Needs Prayer QUICK! -- guest (waihun: this is an excerpt) My husband and I work with troubled youth and their families. We spent 5 hours counselling with the girl's mom and step-dad as we opened our home to the girl as a 'safe harbor' and a 'temporary fix' because the girl had repeatedly run away. The mother and step-father agreed to allow the girl to stay with us, then turned around and called the police and reported her missing at our address. As parents, we support other parent's rights to parent their children, but we really feel that this was a breech of trust by letting the girl believe she was 'safe' here. She wasn't planning on running away from our home, and was willing for us to mediate on her behalf because she does love her mom and stepdad. It was very apparent when the police came to our door, and we contacted the mother by phone that her perception of the events that transpired and her version of the truth were clearly distorted. She made reference to events that never took place and displayed paranoia as though people were conspiring against her. Her daughter has admitted to past drug abuse, although she and her friends say that she does not currently use. The mom says that the daughter is bulemic, steals, and is just 'evil'. I'm sure the daughter would benefit from counsel having lived in that environment. There's so much to pray for, it's difficult to say where to start. Please pray as you feel led. This incident just happened over the weekend. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=174&table=prayer&reptable=replies iii. employment update/strengthening faith -- kimbee Thanks to everyone that prayed for my job situation. I currently do have a job in a med office. However, I would like continued prayer that a medical transcriptionist job would open up for me. The job that I have now is back office work and not my specialty. Also, I would like prayer for my faith in the area of healing to be strengthened. Upon reading the studies submitted, I realize that I do not have much faith in God doing this for me. I have foot problems and no insurance to cover them. So far, I have just been living with it. I do not know if I believe that God would want to heal this. I also have serious problems with my wrists as well. I guess that I would just like prayer that God would give me more faith to believe in His power of Healing us physically. I am not sold out that all physical problems hold God's desire to be healed. I do not doubt His love for me and I am willing to accept whatever comes my way... Thank-you. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=175&table=prayer&reptable=replies 3.
