(09/01/2000) overcoming emotional suffering


Hello prayer warriors, 1. Prayer note: overcoming emotional suffering [Deuteronomy 10:20] Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name. [Matthew 4:10] Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Sometimes the reason why we cannot overcome emotional suffering is because we have other "gods", people or things that are more important to us than God. It may be your spouse, your job, your children. We may deny this, but if we examine ourselves, sometimes we find that we no longer want to live because things or people are not the way we want them to be. Whenever we feel that, we need to reexamine our hearts. This is one of the greatest commandments of God. [Matthew 22:37-38] 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. We are to live our lives for only one reason, and that is to live our lives to worship and serve God. If we cannot come out of our depression, let us go back to our first Love and tell Him that we want His love to displace all other loves in our lives so that we may truly live again according to God's purpose in our lives and that is to worship and serve Him with all that is in us. Only He can truly satisfy. Other people or possessions are not perfect and will fail us but God will never fail us. 2. New prayer requests: i. Well he thinks he does but won't accept JESUS. I pray for his salvation first & then a healing. Also this man is my sister-in-law's brother. They are twins & they are adopted. This is the only blood my sister-in-law knows. pray for strength for her. This has damaged my relationship with God, & with my family, & has left me feeling very isolated. At the moment I'm finding it hard to go to church as I feel unworthy. Everything seems locked within me, & I can't break out to contact God or to hear from Him. I need His presence & peace in my life, & I always feel I am failing Him - almost as if I'm not & never have been a 'real' Christian. I had a very real conversion experience & asked Jesus into my life about 13 years ago, but seem to have lost that connection.
