Prayer Email archive: (04/26/2000) Lamp unto my feet |
hello prayer warriors,
1. prayer note: lamp unto my feet [Psalm 119:105] Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. We've covered the right attitude to hearing from God and the ways that we can hear from God in our previous emails. How do we validate what we hear, whether this is the voice of God or other voices that we hear? If God speaks, it will be in line with His Word. For example, we do not have to ask God whether it is alright to commit adultery or to steal, because it is already very clear in His Word. Or, should I leave my husband/wife to marry another? If we ask God and we believe that He says it's okay to do so, we know that this is not His voice because it is not in line with His Word. His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. His Word will guide us and show us what is right from what is wrong, what is light from what is dark. [Ezekiel 14:3-5] 3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them? 4 Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the Lord will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols; 5 That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols. When we have idols in our heart and these idols are stronger and greater than God's place in our lives, we will not hear what God will speak to us, we will only hear what we want to hear. The Word is very clear on certain issues, and our inner witness is there, let us not seek any other way to satisfy ourselves, but seek God's ways because His ways will protect us from damage that we will do to ourselves and to others. 2. New prayer requests: i. employment -- kimbee Please pray that God would lead me to the right job as a medical transcriptionist. Pray that I would be patient and not get discouraged in my search for work in this field. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=150&table=prayer&reptable=replies 3. Continue to pray for: i. a falling attitude and prosperity -- pauline (waihun: I'm not sure what is the latest update on pauline, but please continue to pray for her work) Dear prayer warriors... The last few months I've become depressed -- disillusioned with the happiness around me, and unsure of my security, and suffering panic attacks. With all the excitement of a new casual job, I've only had 2 days work. I need to work. With my approaching marriage ever closer, I feel I'm not contributing my share financially. With all the difficulties I've been tested with in the last two years, I'm finding it really hard to keep my chin up and stay cheery, my positive attitude is falling by the wayside... my fiance tells me everything is and will be alright, but it doesn't console me. Please pray for me.... I need the strength of the Lord that my brothers and sisters in Christ can provide... http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=121&table=prayer&reptable=replies 4.
