        (02/20/2000) The shallow soil

Hello prayer partners,

1. Prayer Note: the shallow soil

This is a continuation of having the right attitude to
hear from God. Next to the trodden path is the shallow
soil.

[Luke 8:6] Some fell on rock, and when it came up, the
plants withered because they had no moisture
[Luke 8:13] Those on the rock are the ones who receive
the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no
root. They believe for a while, but in the time of
testing they fall away.

The shallow soil represents the superficial heart.

Many of us read the bible very quickly. We hear the
word very quickly and we rejoice, but we do not spend
time to ask God how we can apply this Word in our
lives, how His Word can transform us and to meditate
on it.

Let us not have a superficial heart, and let our
hearts not be shallow soil. Let us approach God and
tell Him everytime we hear a message or read the
bible, "What are You telling me, Lord? How does this
apply to me?". Ask God to speak to you from His word.
You'll be amazed at what you can learn by just being
open and letting the Word take root in your life.

I have examples of enjoying His word personally on the
site:

still lift the guest up. God knows who he/she is :).

3. Prayer Update
i. Praise Report by Pauline
"Praise the Lord! A week ago I posted a prayer to find
a job... I have now had 2 days work and about to start
my third. Although not full time, it is in the right
direction, and I know that God is guiding me.

Thank you everyone for your prayers, your strength is
great support. Special gratitude to those who mailed
me personally with encouragement (Lee, Waihun)... it
means so much!

With the Lord at our side, we CAN do ANYTHING! "
