Prayer Email archive: (05/03/2001) dominion |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: dominion I've like to share some insights that I have learned from Pastor Charles Nieman. As to not to misquote him, some of these are my own insights. When God created man, He gave man two things. I'd like to share the first thing in this email. The first thing that God gave man was dominion. [Genesis 1:26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. What is dominion and why did God create man to have dominion? Charles Nieman shares a very interesting insight. [Genesis 1:1-3] 1 In the beginning God created the heaven & the earth. 2 And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. 3 And God said, Let there be light:& there was light. Have you ever wondered what this light was? It was clearly stated in [Genesis 1:14] that God created the sun and the moon much later. The original old Hebrew word that was used for light was order. So, what God really created wasn't light but order. In the beginning the world was in chaos. It was without form and void, and darkness (the original hebrew word used represented chaos) was upon the face of the deep. When God created light, He brought order out of chaos. That is one of the reasons why God created man: to maintain order. To bring order out of chaos. We are still living in chaos now because we are in a fallen world. There are still evil, disease and poverty everywhere. However, when Jesus came, He came because He wanted to restore what we had lost. The Hebrew word dominion is "radah" which means to rule, have dominion, dominate, tread down, rule or subjugate. [Ephesians 1:20-22] 20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, We again have dominion in Christ, dominion over chaos in our lives, dominion over sickness, poverty, spiritual principalities. How do we exercise this dominion? This is my own insight. When we pray, we exercise authority over a situation. That is one of the reasons why we pray. [Matthew 21:21-22] 21 Jesus answered & said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, & be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. 22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive. There is great power in our prayer and in us, through Christ. We need to understand that authority and use God's authority. However, we have to learn the spiritual and natural laws that are still in operation today if we are to exercise dominion. We can only exercise dominion over things that God has given us in Christ. If we want to do something evil, God will not be the one answering our prayer because it is not in line with His Word. I have been quite sick lately. It's been more than six weeks already but because I understand and know the authority that God has given me over sickness, I continue to pray and give thanks and believe God for complete healing. Why? Because I know that whatever I ask in prayer, believing, I shall receive. God has given the same authority that He has given to Jesus to me. His Word says that by His stripes I have been healed. Even though sometimes the physical manifestation may come later, in the supernatural the healing is already there. I will pray UNTIL something happens. I give thanks because I believe that I am already healed. Having dominion means bringing everything into obedience into the Word of God and not the other way round, letting circumstances control or have dominion over us. All we need to do is ask, believe and receive and exercise that dominion that God has given us in His Word. Ask, believing until the circumstances fall in line with His Word and order is brought out of chaos. 2. New prayer requests: i.
