        (05/22/2000) thorn in the flesh

hello prayer warriors,

1. prayer note: thorn in the flesh

[1 Peter 2:24]
Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the
tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto
righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

I had one of the biggest revelation on healing when I
heard [1 Peter 2:24] in the right perspective, but I
still had questions. What about Paul? God allowed Paul
to have a thorn in the flesh plague him even though he
pleaded with God to remove it.

[2 Corinthians 12:7-9]
7 And lest I should be exalted above measure
through the abundance of the revelations, there was
given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of
Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above
measure.
8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that
it might depart from me.
9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for
thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.
Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my
infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon
me.

I've always thought the thorn in the flesh to be a
sickness or disease. Until I heard my pastor talk
about this thorn in the flesh. He said let scripture
interpret scripture. And he referred to other
scriptures in the bible that refers to thorns that
plague people.

[Numbers 33:55]
But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the
land from before you; then it shall come to pass, that
those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in
your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you
in the land wherein ye dwell.

[Joshua 23:13]
Know for a certainty that the Lord your God will no
more drive out any of these nations from before you;
but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and
scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until
ye perish from off this good land which the Lord your
God hath given you.

Both these scriptures were referring to these thorns
as people and not as sickness or disease.

[Matthew 7:11]
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children, how much more shall your Father
which is in heaven give good things to them that ask
him?

Can we believe that our God who loves us will punish
us with sickness or disease to teach us a lesson? If
we, being evil, can give good gifts to our children,
what more our Father in heaven? If we will not inject
bacteria into our children to teach them a lesson, how
much more will our Father do this? Let us continue to
believe that God's desire is to heal us and that with
His stripes we were healed, and let that revelation
take root in our lives, and let our faith arise to
draw the miracle from God.

2. New Prayer Requests:

3. Continue to pray for:
i. Pray for my aunt -- Jennifer
I just came back from the hospital where I went to see
my aunt. Her name is Alice Tamez. She works as a
housekeeper for a nursing home.
She is such a hard worker. While she was cleaning a
patients room one of the nursing home patients
attacked her. He beat her up and left her with a
swollen chest, which the doctors found out she has a
laceration in her lung. She cannot move and she is in
pain. Her whole chest and face are swollen. If the cut
heals in her lung then it will be fine, but if not
then the only thing left is surgery. Please pray that
she is healed. I love her so much and it hurts to see
my family in such pain.
