(12/13/2000) will the gifts cease?


Hello prayer warriors, 1. Prayer note: will the gifts cease? Some people say that the gifts of the Holy Spirit no longer exist because they have ceased. The scripture reference for this is as follows: [1 Corinthians 13:8-10] 8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away. 9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. If we look at this scripture in context and look at the next few verses, we will find out when the gifts will cease. [1 Corinthians 13:11-12] 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. The gifts will only cease when we see God face to face, when we will no longer only know in part, but God will reveal things to us freely. When that time comes, we don't need tongues or prophecies or healing anymore because we no longer see through a glass and God will show us all things, we will know even as we are known. Until that time comes, God has given us His gifts so that we can minister strength, encouragement, healing to others, so we can live as powerful ministers for His kingdom. 2. New prayer requests: i. She is going through alot since being diagnosed with fibromyalgia. She also has trouble with her personal relationship with God. I am a firm believer in prayer. I have the foundation, but lack the structure needed to be strong. My family needs prayer. I feel my children slipping from the safety of family & turning to others less caring. My 13yr old daughter has become defiant at school & home. I am really suffering right now, I am in need of some serious dental work. I also need to see a doctor about my physical health. However, I do not have medical or dental coverage. If I get this promotion, I will be able to get the medical & dental attention I so desperately need. I have been medicating myself for too long for the pain. I am suffering some emotional problems, crying easily & I am always tired.
