Prayer Email archive: (04/13/2000) Bed of roses |
hello prayer warriors
1. prayer note: bed of roses [Romans 5:3,4] Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. (NIV) I recently heard a message by Dr. John Lim. He said that God is the one who invented maths: subtraction, addition, division and multiplication. The human body has to go through the process of elimination for it to remain healthy and grow. The human cell needs to divide and multiply so that your body can grow and repair itself. To grow in Christ and in character, there also needs to be a healthy process of us going through the elimination process or division process. What happens when the human body cannot eliminate properly? The toxic will build up and we will die. Sometimes we go through difficult times in which we feel that we are giving up something, or that part of our lives are destroyed because of things beyond our control. God is still in control and He allows us to go through the process. God is interested in our character and there are many scriptures in the bible talking about us presenting ourselves mature in Christ. When we go through suffering, we need to persevere which will in turn build character and in turn build hope. That was what happened to Joseph. He went through the growing up process at very rapid speed when his brothers sold him to be a slave and he went from one betrayal to another, when his boss' wife blamed him for something that he did not do and he was imprisoned [Genesis 39]. He could chose to persevere, which he did, or he could chose to be bitter and not grow up, which was what happened to Absalom, David's son [2 Samuel 18]. Let us let the processes that God allow us to go through in our lives BUILD us up to persevere, to develop character and to have this hope. Life may not be a bed of roses, but everyday we are maturing in character in Christ and we receive His hope and His enabling grace for a better today and a better tomorrow. 2. New prayer requests i. Leading my fiancee closer to God -- Pauline God is Good. God is Great. My fiance Glyn is opening to the Lord's Love, but still needs encouragement, and support. I invited him to attend our Easter worship, and he accepted with enthusiasm; he even asked why I didn't invite him last year! After much discussion, he is glad and respects that I am strong in faith. He is in agreement that after our marriage, our family should be raised in an active Christian home. Please pray for Glyn in his journey to God -- he still needs your prayers. And please pray for me -- that I can assist and support his journey, that I will have the wisdom and knowledge to answer his questions, and that I will have the strength to endure this journey with him. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=144&table=prayer&reptable=replies 3. Continue to pray for: i. Pray for healing -- tillyotoole I have a boyfriend who is a quadraplegic. His name is Dartanier Patton. He was injured in a diving accident. He wasn't saved at the time, but now is. We are believing the Lord for total and complete healing. Please join us in praying for this. We stay in the word and know that healing is always God's will. We stand and hold fast to his promises. He has improved slowly over time, but has a long way to go. He receives therapy now but never did before. We know that God is faithful. Also, I am his sole provider and sometimes this gets to be too much. He can't really do anything for himself. I have to do a lot of physical lifting as well as manage the household and tend to him . Please pray for strength, mentally and physically for me. We will endure until the end. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=138&table=prayer&reptable=replies 4.
