And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.

(Sometimes we think that God wants us to be sick to humble us. My pastor said that the thorn in the flesh does not refer to sickness and he suggest to let scripture interpret scripture. To learn more, read the following:

And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

(Healing is for all. Jesus has empowered his disciples to heall ALL manner of sickness and ALL manner of disease.)

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the Lord that healeth thee.

(The Hebrew word "Jehovah Rapha" means "God is my healer". His name says that He is our healer. It is up to us to believe it.)

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 

And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.

(Why does God heal us? Simple, because He loves us)

Neither give place to the devil.

(this verse relates to us being disobedient and living in sin ... not that any of us is righteous, but we seek to be more like Him, and come to Him for God's grace to enable us to live our life better. Everytime we sin, we give place to the devil, we open a door and say ... "come in and dine with me". We need to quickly come before God and ask for His forgiveness. But if we do not repent, sometimes the sickness will not go away, because we still give the devil DELIBERATELY the reins to our life.)

e.g. take the Sabbath, God has given us a day to rest, if we overwork or overexert ourselves, we naturally fall under the consequences of the law of nature.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. 

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
