"I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted."

In the context of this verse, Jesus paints a picture of two men in prayer. The one exalts himself by saying that he is happy to not be like those around him who are lowlier than him. The other simply throws himself on the mercy of God. God wants us to be like the latter, humble before Him and dependent on Him. If we are, God will be the one to accept and recognize us.

This is a continuous problem that has been around for ages. Guys trying to figure out girls and vice versa.
If you are to have any kind of relationship then you need to be 100% honest with him. This is a new friendship so give him his space until he he tells you otherwise. He may really of had something he was busy with and had nothing to do with you at all. If it really bugs you that much then be honest with him. This is the right thing to do. If it runs him off then he was not for you. You need someone who will understand when you need to talk and be a true friend.
I think your right about letting something evolve out of friendship. Most of the time instant relationships do not work. You really need to get to know him and then see if he is for you and vice versa.
I hope this helps.
God Bless You!
