        Why was Jesus baptized?

Why was Jesus baptized? If he wasn't baptized what would that mean?

you are certainly right i belive. jesus did everything as an example for his diciples to follow from healing, to fasting, to praying, and even baptism. onyl then, when the holy spirit fell on them in the book of ACTS they knew what to do. becusae theyve seen that was to be done to receive the promise.

When the Holy Spirit came down and sat on Jesus' shoulder as a dove then the voice, it clearly is an example and in Luke The Father clearly states... "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased"

I am by no means an expert, and someone with more theological background might have a better answer, but my best guess is: He was baptized as an example for us to follow, and to fufill the prophecies in the old testament regarding John the Baptist who prepared the way for him. Can someone else confirm or elaborate on this?
