   Book Review:
        In Pursuit of Maturity
by J. Oswald Sanders
The apostle Paul summarised the goal of his ministry by the following words:

“That we may present every man mature in Christ”
[Colossians 1:28]

It is the responsibility of every member of the body of Christ to “continue progressing towards maturity” [Hebrews 6:1].

In a clear and straightforward style J. Oswald Sanders describes what Christian maturity constitutes of and explains the path to achieving maturity.
The book does not confine Christian maturity to that of the spiritual life (i.e. prayer, conscience) but also explains what Christian maturity is in the context of our thoughts, habits and conduct. He spells out the necessity of trials and discipline in achieving maturity and how a mature Christian should react to adverse circumstances. To encourage the reader to strive for maturity, Mr Sanders describes the attractiveness of maturity and reminds the reader that God does not leave us alone, dependent on our own slender resources to achieve maturity but has made provision through the ministry of the Holy Spirit for us to achieve the victory. In explaining each point, Mr Sanders draws upon the word of God as well as illustrations from the lives of past and contemporary Christians.

This book should be read by all as an encouragement to continue more ardently in the pursuit of Christian maturity.
