Tamara the one thing you don't want to do is get disconnected from God. I too suffer from a spirit of lust. I have been battling this for years. I too am active in the church and feel ashamed to talk to anyone about my problem. But we don't exam ourselves the way someone else who has a close walk with the Lord will. Try and find someone who you trust and know that they will have your best interest at heart. I know that is a tough thing to do but just pray to God and ask him to send that person your way. In the meantime get back into your daily time with God. Begin each day with at least fifteen minutes of alone time just talking to God. I do this on my drive into work in the morning. It is just me and God in the car and we really talk. I go to work rather early (4AM) so there is not much traffic so make that decsion wisely. People may look at you starnge when they see you talking to yourself but that's okay. Get back to reading a devotional every morning and evening before you go to bed. I have two devotionals. One is emailed to me every morning and that is the first thing I read in the morning before I start work. If your company frowns on that keep one in your car and read it right before you get out of your car in the parking lot. God has a way of giving you a word to help get you through the morning. Another thing I do is pray while I am at work. I say a short prayer at 9AM, then I spend five to ten minutes away from my desk at noon and pray. I either take a walk outside or go to what I call my secret prayer room which is an storage area where no ones goes. It really gets me through the rest of the day. Stay connected throughout the day. Continue to study God's word on your own. Prepare yourself for Sunday school as if you were going to teach every Sunday. Go to prayer meeting during mid week services. Remeber God's word says he will never leave you or forsake you. He knows what we will do even before we do it. Nothing is done in secret before God. Let that motivate you when those lustful urges of the flesh come along. You won't be successful everytime but rememeber that God loved us so much that his son died for your sins as well as mine.
Tamara that means before God you are always clean. When he sees you he does not see an unclean person. He sees someone who has been washed in the blood of Jesus. I know the feeling you have when you feel that you have lost your closeness with God. But remember that God always has his loving arms open to forgive us and welcomes us back into his famlily. We leave god, God does not leave us. I will pray for you to be delivered from your situation if you pray for me to be delivered from mine. Deal? God bless you.
