After reading your prayer request for your friend, I had such an urgency to reply. Although your friend is able to make her own decisions about her own body, I do pray that you encourage her to follow through with her treatment. She's right that we all need to put our faith and trust in our dear Lord instead of in some man, however, sometimes the Lord works through the hands of the doctors.
On a more personal note, a very dear woman in my life felt a lump in her breast and didn't get it checked out for two years. When she finally did, it ended up being the worst and rarest type of breast cancer there is. For the last three years, she's fought for her life as the cancer has moved from her breasts (which were both removed), to her lymph, and finally to her bones. She's lost her hair a couple of times because of her different cancer treatments and she's in constant pain because of the "hot spots" of cancer throughout her body. When I talk to her, sometimes she brakes down and confesses that she feels foolish for not taking care of the lump in her breast when it was treatable. On the other hand, She also knows that God takes that bad and makes it good, so she also has confessed that she won't trade the depth of her relationship with Lord that this has brought her to.
So, know that I will be praying for the Lord's will to be done. missy-muff@excite.com
