        (10/13/2000) a time to hate

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: a time to hate

[Ecclesiastes 3:7-8a]
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep
silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate;

When I had the revelation of these verses here being a
progression, what really baffled me was how can hate
be a progression from love. The answer is found below:

[Luke 14:26]
26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father,
and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and
sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my
disciple.
27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come
after me, cannot be my disciple.

I recently heard a tape by Chris Gabbriot about the
Jonathan disease. Most of us would think of Jonathan
who was a very nice guy who stood by David. That was
how it began, but Jonathan had a tragic death [2
Samuel 31:2
]. He was slain along with Saul and his
other brothers. He had a good start but not a good
ending. After he died, he left behind a son who became
lame when the baby-sitter tried to escape and tripped
and fell after his death.

What did Jonathan do wrong? In the end, he was in the
most dangerous place in his life and that is called
the middle of the road. Many of us have been there. It
was easier for him to be comfortable in his palace
than to be with David in the caves when Saul pursued
David. Jonathan did not confront his father Saul and
tried to snap him out of his insanity. It was more
comfortable doing nothing than doing something.

Jesus was at the same position. He either had to make
a stand for us, take up the Cross with His life and
step out of His comfort zone or just watch us perish.
He chose to not go the middle road.

That is exactly what it means to move from love to
hate. From loving ourselves and living completely for
our own self-indulgence to "hating" ourselves, moving
out of our comfort zone and making a stand for Jesus.

Live your life with a back-bone. Stand up for
something or some One! Would we make a stand for Him
by not being ashamed of Him and proclaiming Him and
doing the things that God wants us to do? Would we
make a stand for Him by obeying Him and getting into
Christian fellowship like He commanded? Or is it just
easier to just be in the middle of the road. He
carried the Cross for us, now would we carry our cross
for Him?

opposes their relationship. She has also persuaded him
to not allow anyone who opposes her to be allowed to
see his 2 small children. We are very concerned..
