        (10/08/2000) a time for everything

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: a time for everything

[Ecclesiastes 3:11]
He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also
he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man
can find out the work that God maketh from the
beginning to the end.

This is one of my favorite scriptures. Today, my
pastor talked about pain bringing us blessings and
having a value-added life from the pain in our lives.
I came back and God continued to minister to me from
this book of Ecclesiastes.

This book was written by Solomon after he's gone
through a lot of pain and suffering of having gone the
wrong way and now he has come back to God.

[Ecclesiastes 3:1-3]
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to
every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to
plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to
break down, and a time to build up;

There is a progression here that I suddenly saw. Not a
degeneration but a progression. We progress from the
time we are born to the time we die. The interesting
thing here is that there is a time to plant and a time
to uproot. There is a time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to break down and a time to build up.

We must first learn to die to ourselves first before
we can live for Christ. This is such a simple truth
and yet sometimes when we do not understand this we do
not let the trials that God allows to come into our
lives make us better. Instead of progressing, we
degenerate.

John learned this truth when he said it so simply in
[John 3:30] He must increase, but I must decrease.

Similarly the apostle Paul started his new letters to
Galatians and the Corinthians with an introduction of
himself as "Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus
Christ" [Galatians 1:1], [1 Cor 1:1], [2 Cor 2:1]. By
the time he wrote the letter to the Romans, he started
calling himself "Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ"
[Romans 1:1]. What happened in between ... from
apostle to servant? I believe that the old Paul was
being "killed" and "broken down" and the new Paul was
being "healed" and "build up" [2 Corinthians 4:8-11].

That is what happens. The devil will throw things into
your life sometimes because we have open doors in our
lives and sometimes because some things which involve
other people are not within our control. But whether
you made a mistake or whether others did something to
you, God is able to reverse it... from being killed to
being healed, from broken down to being build up. If
we allow God to heal us and to build us up through the
trials, we will encounter the progression that God
intends in our lives and not the degeneration that the
devil intended.
