        (09/16/2000) not what I did

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: not what I did

[Philippians 3:13-14]
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have
apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those
things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those
things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the
high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Some of us may reminisce and thrive on our past
victories or our past failures. We may still be living
in our past. We need to learn from Paul. We are not to
live in the past but live in the present for the
future.

I heard an excerpt from Charles Nieman's message on
this verse. He talked about a woman who came to him
and told him her problems. He was deeply concerned and
asked her, "When did these happen?". She replied "20
years ago".

How long do you want your past to affect you? Do you
want your past to drag you into your future and
destroy God's blessings in your life? We need to let
go and learn to live the way God wants us to live.

[Ephesians 2:10]
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus
unto good works, which God hath before ordained that
we should walk in them.

God has called us His sons and His workmanship and He
has a path for us and a plan for us. And because He
has planned His path for us, He will give us the
ability to walk in that path.

Are we living as princes and princesses or as we still
living as bondservants when God has freed us from the
bondage of our past which include our victories and
our failures. Let us not say that we have succeeded
because we did this and that in the past or that we
have failed because we have failed in our job or our
marriage, etc. We will succeed when we forget about
our past and press on to the future, when we learn to
live as sons and daughters and not as bondservants or
hirelings.

Success is not what I did but how I live and serve Him
NOW!

2. New prayer requests:
i. Pray for an increase in the fire of the Holy Spirit
in me -- guest
I am a new born-again Christian & am just learning to
come to grips with the changes I need to make in my
life. I would like everyone to pray that God will
become a stronger force in my life & in the lives of
all His followers too. Help me to surrender to the
love, grace & mercy of God, and to make the changes in
my mind & heart that are necessary for me to be a true
follower of Christ.

ii. Healing for Paige -- christiandeb
Paige is a drug baby. Both her parents are drug
addicts & she was born at 26 weeks gestation. Once she
was taken home, mum was back on drugs & neglected her
with the results that she has had pneumonia twice (she
is 8 months old now & has only been out of hospital
for 4 months)
& now she is having to face an operation
to put scopes in her lungs. Her mother is off &
leaving her, so please pray for Paige & her older
sister who is 2. God would watch over them & salvation
would come to the parents & they would be totally
released from their drug dependency. Thank you all, I
appreciate your prayers. You are all so special to me.

iv. need prayer for renewed faith, teenager daughter,
healing & financial wisdom -- julianne
I am a believer but drifted away slowly. I pray for
forgiveness for pulling away from God & strength &
dedication in renewing my relationship & faithfulness
to God's will. I also lift my daughter, Jennifer, up
for healing a back injury & the trials she is
experiencing in beginning high school. Additionally, I
have been ill for a year & a half with a slew of
doctors totally baffled & uncertain as to what's
causing all the symptoms...extreme fatigue, stiffness,
achiness, constant nausea, migraines, tmj (jaw),
back/neck stiffness & pain, low grade fever, rashes,
memory loss & confusion, dizziness, etc.. the list
doesn't end soon. I pray for healing. I pray for the
energy to be able to work fulltime & maintain the kids
and household responsibilities. pray for a healing of
our finances that have been ravaged by all the medical
bills & for wisdom to handle finances better going
forward. pray for clarity in my life & the ability to
better serve the Lord by helping others in need.

3. Prayer update:
i. My finances -- star
I put a Prayer Request in for the first time last
week, & my prayers have already been answered about my
finances. The Lord worked it out for me to consolidate
some of my bills & save me alot each month. I just
want to thank everyone for praying for my situation &
also would like to Praise the Lord for being there for
me again. Also, I got a raise this week that I wasn't
expecting. The Lord is so good & I praise him and
Thank him. May God Bless all of you prayer warriors.
Prayer is the answer. Now I have to make myself more
cautious of my finances. Thanks again.
