(07/18/2000) the fear of the Lord


Hello prayer warriors, 1. Prayer note: the fear of the Lord [Proverbs 9:10a] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, [Deuteronomy 6:13] Thou shalt fear the Lord thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. I've always wanted to know what is this fear of the Lord. Even though both of these words fear are represented by different words in Hebrew but this word fear is generally described as fear (of God), respect, reverence, piety. My pastor just gave us a revelation on this word fear. He said the best interpreter of the Bible is Jesus. And the scripture in Deuteronomy 6:13 is also found in the new testament quoted by Jesus: [Matthew 4:10] Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. This is the most excellent description of the word fear: WORSHIP. Instead of "fearing" the Lord, we worship Him. That is how Jesus translated the Old Testament word fear for us. That is the beginning of wisdom and the beginning of our obeying His Word: to worship the Lord our God and Him only shall we serve. 2. New prayer requests: i. Pray for direction on financial problem -- jennifer I feel embarraseed to ask for help. But, I need not be too proud for God listens if we ask. I've been on my own for 3 1/2 years now. I'm trying so hard to provide my 3 year old son with the things he needs. Right now, I am not making enough money to pay my bills. When I pray I can hear God telling me not to worry. But, I feel I need prayer. I haven't told anyone just my fiance. He is unable to help because he has many bills to pay. I also dont want to burden him with my problems. I thank God that I have enough food and that I have a warm apartment to live in. I want to get a second job but I feel I do not want to leave my son with a babysitter for too long. Also, I attend school full-time. Please pray that God will give me the direction I need. That if it is his will to get another job, then so be it. I am currently looking, but it is God who works to fullfill his will. Perfect health for my mom -- waihun Dear prayer warriors, Thank you everyone for praying for my mom. This is the latest update. She is going to do an axillary lymph node dissection tomorrow in the hospital. Can you please lift up the operation into God's hands and ask for protection? Pray that there will not be any side effects from the surgery. Please also pray for more revelation of God and for her to be more open to God. I'm giving her bible study but she is not as open as I'd hope she be.
