Prayer Email archive: (10/27/2002) forbearing one another in love |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Special thanks to voters I want to especially thank those of you who are voting for the site daily on Crossdaily. The votes have been increasing and the average votes per day which has been going down for the past few months has been inching up steadily daily. It takes only a second to vote daily but your votes will bring more people to the site. To vote, click here: http://mydevotion.com/mailvote.asp 2. Prayer note: forbearing one another in love [Ephesians 4:1-3] 1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. I find Christian ministry sometimes harder to handle than secular work. In my secular work, I have staff reporting to me and it is a structure that creates less strife because the line of authority is clearly drawn. When it comes to church work, which is voluntary, so much more human emotions and attitude is in play. There is no financial obligation to carry out work and it is difficult to draw the line when it comes to working together happily. Maybe this is where God has told us that we need to forbear one another in love. With all lowliness, and meekness and longsuffering. I need to remind myself of this that this is part of the vocation (verse 1) to which I am called. To love the people that I am with and to keep the unity of the Spirit. This requires much more than love. It requires humility, patience, endurance. Probably wisdom is not enough because in many cases, not everything can be solved in a split second. It still takes lowliness, meekness, longsuffering and love. Maybe that is why we find that it is said in [1 Corinthians 13:13] "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." 3. Prayer requests: i.
