Prayer Email archive: (06/25/2000) forgiveness is not our right when... |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: forgiveness is not our right when.. [Matthew 6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. I placed my pastor's quiz in the previous prayer email. I just want to comment on point v of the quiz: v. It is my duty to forgive the offender that hurt someone else TRUE/FALSE Tried answering this? The answer is FALSE. Sometimes we see people hurting someone else. And sometimes out of compassion, we go to the party that has not been forgiven and say "I forgive you." It is not our duty or our right to do that. Imagine if your friend's son has been killed and your friend is still trying to deal with his death when fellow believers go up to the murderer and say "we forgive you". Forgiveness is for the person who has been offended or hurt. When Jesus taught us how to pray to the Father, He said "forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors" ... people who have offended us. He did not ask us to forgive people who have offended others. 2. Prayer update: i. Update on my children -- thankful (waihun: thankful has posted an update earlier to say that things are progressing and to thank us for the prayer, but she just emailed me today and say that things have just gotten worse.) dear prayer warriors; the devil has attacked majorly again in our home. my daughter has run away to possibly her dads, and my son is in total rebellion. I feel I have no choice but to give them over to their father and let him bear the burden. I can not bear any more pain. Please pray for their safety and for God to bring them to repentance. I am greatly grieved and need wisdom and grace. my mom has helped me through this and she needs prayer too! thank you and I welcome any advice. thankful (waihun: she emailed me again and said that her daughter has not contacted the father and she does not know where the daughter is now. She feels a little overwhelmed now but believes that God is still in control. Please pray!!) http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=219&table=prayer&reptable=replies 3.
