Prayer Email archive: (11/01/2001) the blessing is not in the land |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: the blessing is not in the land [Deuteronomy 28:8] The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. There is a portion for us in our lives and a land that God has given us. Sometimes, we find this land parched and bare and we wonder where is the land that is flowing with milk and honey. Look beyond the land. When Abraham and Lot had to part company, Abraham told Lot to choose his land. If Lot went to the left, Abraham would go to the right. [Genesis 13:9-10] 9 Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. 10 And Lot lifted up his eyes, and beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the Lord destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, even as the garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar. Lot chose a land that was well watered and that looked good. Abraham must have been left with the second choice. However, we must not forget that when God asked Abraham to separate himself and make his journey into the promised land flowing with milk and honey, the blessing was not in the land but the blessing was with the man. Sometimes, God gives us a land that we do not think is the best and we think we have gotten a bad bargain. This is what happened when Lot parted company with Abraham. [Genesis 13:] 14 The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west. 15 All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever. 16 I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted. 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you." 18 So Abram moved his tents and went to live near the great trees of Mamre at Hebron, where he built an altar to the LORD. Lift up your eyes and look beyond the natural. Look beyond the land and see God's blessings even in the place where you are. In the land that God has given you, He will be able to bless you. Even if your situation seems far from perfect and you may not have all the finances, the education, the family background, or the environment to succeed, it is not the land that will bless you. It is God that will bless you in the land that He has given you. All we need to do is ask God for His perspective when we look beyond that natural and see that God's blessings is with us. His blessing is in the man and not in the land. 2. New prayer requests: i. I'm Getting Married, pray for me & my spouse -- jhunter519 http://mydevotion.com/p.asp?tid=1996 ii.
