        (06/15/2000) when to forgive?

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer Note: when to forgive?

[Ephesians 4:26-27]
26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go
down upon your wrath:
27 Neither give place to the devil.

We get offended easily. People disappoint us, say the
wrong thing, didn't do something, didn't stand on our
side, etc. It can be something that they did or
something that they didn't do.

When should we forgive?

I remember a story that one of my pastors told.
Imagine this. You go into a nice Italian restaurant
and order spaghetti marinara. The waiter comes
carrying a steaming plate of spaghetti. He trips and
tips the whole plate of spaghetti over your head. Now,
you have strings of spaghetti and a number of clam
shells and prawns on your hair.

You go home and what is the first thing you would do?
I'm sure all of us would wash the sphaghetti away,
along with all the nice sauces and the wonderful
seafood that is clinging to our hair. Who would go to
bed with these things?

This is a great analogy for us when it comes to our
wrath or bitterness or anger. We have to bring all
these before God and wash these things out of our
system before we go to bed. Don't sleep with
unforgiveness in your heart.

Why is this such good advice? Because if we do this,
we are not letting unforgiveness or bitterness take
root in our lives.

[Hebrews 12:14-15]
14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without
which no man shall see the Lord:
15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the
grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up
trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

If these are just seeds that have fallen onto our
heads, we can just pick the seeds up and remove them
easily. But if we nurture them, water them, we give
place to the devil to make our lives his playing
field. The seeds will take root and a tree will
eventuallygrow and when that happens, it will be much
more painful to remove a root or a tree than it is to
remove a seed.

So every night before we go to bed, make a checklist
of everyone who has offended us for the day and say
"Lord, I forgive." Instead of anger or wrath, take one
verse of His Word of encouragement and carry the Word
with us to bed. Let our spirit man take into our being
the refreshing Word of God and His peace and let us
not give the devil a foothold into our lives.

3. Praise Report:
i. Praise Report on healing -- lauriemwalker
I've enjoyed reading the prayer emails! I've been
praying, too! I just read the one about healing. I was
thinking when I read it that I'd respond with a praise
to the Lord! My boyfriend has recently been called to
preach, and the devil was really working on him
because he has really bad knees. Monday night the
youth at church had prayer meeting, and we all prayed
for his knees. He was healed! Thank God! God is still
in the healing business if only we believe!
Now, he can work, run, walk, and do anything with
perfect knees. Before, he was in pain with each step
he took. Thank you Lord! The service was so good that
we came back the next night, and he preached his first
sermon. The Lord really blessed his saints and moved!
Thank God!
