        (07/25/2001) how to live happily

Hello prayer warriors,

Note: prayer warriors, I have just moved our list to topica. There might
be some temporary problems for now. I've separated our lists into 2
lists because of the 500 limit for emails per list unless I get
approval. It's a long story. But, we'll try this out for now. Let's hope
that this works because yahoo has been giving me a lot of problems
lately.

1. Prayer note: how to live happily

[Philippians 4:8,9]
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true,
whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are
just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things
are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if
there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think
on these things. Those things, which ye have both
learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do:
and the God of peace shall be with you.

Happiness, many times, is a state of mind. The Word of
God here says "THINK on these things". It is a choice.
It is a choice of how we look at things and whether we
decide to dwell on the positive or dwell on the
negative. It is a choice whether we want to dwell in
"peace" or dwell in "turmoil".

Many times we are not happy because we choose to
postpone happiness. We choose to postpone happiness
because we don't want to live in today but we want to
live in yesterday or tomorrow. You can decide to live
in the past with guilt and regrets. You can't change
history but you can definitely continue to live in it.
Or, you can decide to live in the future, with lots of
"what-if"s hanging around your head. You can be
worrying about your future and you can let your fear
get the better of you today. Or, you can decide to
live today.

Your today is an accumulation of the choices that you
made in your yesterdays. And your tomorrow, is an
accumulation of what you do in your "todays".
Unfortunately, you can only live one day at a time and
that day is "today". If we can't learn to be happy
today, we will never be happy. The past is over and
the future is not yet.

Having said that I believe in living my future in my
today. What does that mean? We need to have a vision
of our tomorrows. And everyday, if we make the right
choices to be happy and to live our lives abundantly,
we are making a step to making our vision for tomorrow
a reality. Our vision can guide us but it can only
guide us one day at a time. With a vision in our
hearts (not just in our mind), we will not live our
lives without restraint and we will not waste our
lives away.

[Proverbs 29:18] KJV
Where there is no vision, the people perish.
[Proverbs 29:18] NIV
Where there is no revelation, the people cast off
restraint;

We only have a small cup of energy. Our energy should
be focussed and not without restrain. And everyday,
when we focus our energies into sowing into our lives,
we will be enjoying the harvest "tomorrow" from the
accumulation of the choices we make today.

Don't wait to be happy and don't wait to do the right
things. Learn to be content and to trust in God's
ability to see us through because everyday, when we
sow instead of wallow, we are moving closer to
maintaining the chaos in our lives and closer to
seeing God's vision in our lives fulfilled. Everyday,
we have to make the right choices to think positively,
to steer clear of negative energy-sapping thoughts and
emotions and to live today with gratitude and with
hope. You have a choice to stop living in your past,
stop worrying about your future and start living
today.
