        (05/15/2001) first the spiritual

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: first the spiritual

[1 Kings 18:42-45]
41 And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and
drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah
went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down
upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
43 And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward
the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There
is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
44 And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he
said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the
sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto
Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down that the
rain stop thee not.
45 And it came to pass in the mean while, that the
heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a
great rain.

We talked about dominion and that one of the main
reasons we should pray is to exercise the dominion
that God has given us. We are also to recognize that
it is up to us to allow and disallow things in our
lives.

The next part is this, that we are to recognize that
things may happen in the spiritual but manifested in
the natural later. In fact, the spiritual moves the
natural.

When Elijah prayed, he heard the sound of abundance
rain IN THE SPIRIT. There was no rain and no sign of
rain. The sky was clear but something has already
happened in the spiritual.

You would have thought that he would stop after
hearing the rain. He didn't. In fact, he cast himself
down upon the earth, and put his face between his
knees, which is the position of natural labour in
those times. He was travailing in prayer as if he was
a woman in labour.

If we know God's promises and we know our rights, we
are to pray through until we see the promise
manifested in the natural. We are to travail and to
press on. Elijah asked his servant to go to the sea
and look for the rain seven times. Not one time or two
times but seven times because seven represents the
symbol of perfection.

So, should we give up before we see God's promises
fulfilled in our lives and manifested in the natural?
No, we are never to give up but to press on until we
see God's promises manifested in the natural. We need
to recognize that when we press on in the spiritual,
when we believe and press on in prayer, the natural
will follow through. Exercising dominion means not
giving up until you see the fulfillment of God's
promises in your life.
