Prayer Email archive: (04/13/2001) the single eye |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: the single eye I said that true change was effortless in the last email. Sometimes we try so much to change our conditions, our circumstances, our habits and fail. What we don't realise is that we have to change our mind first. Then, come to God and ask Him for His strength, to exchange His strength with ours. That is when true change becomes effortless. What do we need to do after God has effected a supernatural change in us? We are no longer defeated by a habitual sin or a depression. Suddenly, we see the light. It was a change of mind and a change of heart that God effected in us. [Luke 11:34-36] 34 The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness. 35 Take heed therefore that the light which is in thee be not darkness. 36 If thy whole body therefore be full of light, having no part dark, the whole shall be full of light, as when the bright shining of a candle doth give thee light. We need to protect that light and that change that God has given us. We need to maintain it. How do we maintain it and the blessings that God has given us? By making sure that we continue to see things and situations in our lives with a positive light. The light of the body is the eye. We possess what we see. Joshua and Caleb finally possessed the promised land. The other ten spies never got to see these promises fulfilled in their lives because they had an evil eye. They saw the situation in a negative light. Joshua and Caleb's eyes were single and focussed on God's Word. You possess what you see through your mind's eye. Even if you are freed from depression, sometimes events might happen that might trigger a thought. We need to reject that thought and bring that thought captive into obedience to the Word of God. We need to protect that light by refusing any form of darkness in our lives. We need to reject that darkness and even flee from that darkness that once got us trapped. If we allow the negative thoughts to come in and dwell on them, we will possess the fruits of it. If we continue to see through the eyes of faith, we will reap what we see through our mind's eye. [2 Corinthians 10:3-6] 3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: 4 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; You want to know what the revelation is? The strongholds are in our minds. What God has freed us from was the stronghold in our minds. Now, why should we allow negative thoughts to come in and make us captive again? Instead, we are to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. We are to discipline our minds to see things and events in our lives in a positive light and in the right perspective. That is how we can maintain positive change in our lives. Always have a bountiful eye, and make sure that our eye is single. Always see things and situations in your life through the eyes of faith, always looking toward the promises of God and rejecting the evil eye of disbelief and doubt. 2. New prayer requests: i.
