Prayer Email archive: (03/04/2001) while waiting |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: while waiting [Ecclesiastes 11:1] Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. Another reason why we want to give up is because we have waited for so long for God's revealed will or spoken word to come to pass and until now, we have not even begun to seen anything happen yet. A brother told me today that Christians are abnormal people. He is right. Normal people act on sight, we have to act on faith. [2 Cor 4:18] While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. A wonderful revelation here is that what is seen is subject to change. And our trust is not on what we see, but on the Word of God and on what God tells us. The scripture in Ecclesiastes above tells us that we have to cast our bread upon the waters and we will find it after MANY days. There is a SEASON between sowing and reaping. If you are reaping a great harvest today, it may not be because of things that you have done yesterday, but it is probably because of seeds that you have sown some time ago. So, we need to continue to sow and to believe. If we want our breakthrough to come and for God's word to come to pass in our lives, we need to sow faith. [Hebrews 11:1] Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Do you have the evidence of what you are hoping for in your heart? That is called "faith". Faith is the seed that you sow for what you are hoping for. We reap what we sow. If you sow an apple, you will get an apple. If you sow an orange, you will get an orange. If we sow unbelief, how can we expect our breakthrough and our miracle to spring forth? [Matthew 13:57-58] 57 And they took offense at him. But Jesus said to them, "Only in his hometown and in his own house is a prophet without honor." 58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith. (NIV) Jesus could not do much in His hometown because of unbelief and because of lack of faith. The same principle applies to our lives and to our hearts. We need to come to a place and to a position where we can receive the fulfillment of God's promises. Joseph waited many years for the fulfillment of his dream which he received from God at a young age. He could have just not believed any more in God's promises and given up but he didn't. Joseph lived to fulfill his dream because he did not give up and he kept his faith alive. God's Word never fails. It is only us who can fail Him when we fail to wait for the breakthrough and give up. [Galatians 6:9] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (NIV) To conclude, what do we do while waiting? Trust and hope with positive expectation and cast away unbelief. Continue to sow. In other words, wait in faith. 2. New prayer requests: i.
