        (02/05/2001) ready or not

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: ready or not

Someone wrote an interesting note to me and asked me
who is God's anointed in the context of the previous
prayer email. God's anointed is the person that God
has appointed into leadership position above us in the
ministry. Submission in speech is not agreeing with
everything your leader says but it means that we are
not to disobey or rebel or instigate other people to
disobey the leadership. If I am involved in a
ministry, I obey the orders given by the leadership
because I recognize the authority that God has placed
in His church. However, submission in ministry is not
the same as submission of your life. Submission in
ministry is submission when serving in the ministry.
Supposing your husband physically abuses your kids and
you have stayed away from him to protect your kids. If
your leader advices you to stay with your husband and
you disagree, you need to seek advice from other
leaders and counsellors and you need to pray for the
inner witness of the Holy Spirit in this area. Seek
the Word and find out what God says to you in this
situation. Submission in your life is very different
from submission in ministry.

Now moving on to today's prayer note, what if you do
not feel ready to serve in the ministry. You feel that
you are not equipped, not talented enough or even not
good enough to serve. What should you do?

[John 15:4-5]
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot
bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no
more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that
abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth
much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

First of all, we need to recognize that we depend on
God. He is the vine, we are the branches. We only bear
much fruit when we abide in Him. It is not so much our
own abilities or strength, we have to ask God for His
anointing.

When God called Gideon to serve Him, Gideon replied:

[Judges 6:15]
"But Lord," Gideon asked, "how can I save Israel? My
clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in
my family." (NIV)

And God said:
[Judges 6:16]
And the Lord said unto him, Surely I will be with
thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.

God's answer to Gideon was that He will be with
Gideon. That is all Gideon needs. When Gideon said
that he was the weakest, that was when God could use
him the most. It was the same when Gideon recruited
his army ... God wanted the army to be small so that
God can do the work and show forth His glory. The real
battle was won by God and not by Gideon.

If we can recognize that, we can tell God, "whether I
feel ready or not, here am I, send me."

What God requires from us is a step of faith and our
obedience. Be faithful and step out in what God has
called us to do. Grace also means that God will
provide us with the anointing to carry out the task.
God is not looking for able men but He is looking for
faithful men whom He shall also make able to do the
work.

[2 Timothy 2:2]
And the things that thou hast heard of me among many
witnesses, the same commit thou to FAITHFUL men, who
shall be ABLE to teach others also.
