Prayer Email archive: (01/23/2000) because of His faithfulness |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: because of His faithfulness I think what has really sustained me through all these years is His faithfulness. I remember when I was much younger and a new believer in Christ, I told God that I will be faithful to Him forever and I will never leave Him or forsake Him. As I grew older, I came to realise that it is the other way round. [Joshua 1:5] No one will be able to stand up against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. [Joshua 1:9] Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Not only am I not to be afraid, I am not to be dismayed (not to be discouraged, to lose heart, to lose hope) because He has promised me that He is WITH me WHEREVER I go. There were times when I wasn't where God wanted me to be. But I believe that He stuck on to me and He never left me or forsook me. That is why when I came back to Him to where I think He wants me to be now, I have told God that I will learn to be faithful to Him. When I enter into a ministry and serve, it is not because I feel like it, but because I have made a commitment to Him, a commitment that I want to honour. We know that we can depend on God to deliver us, to help us, to comfort us. Can He depend on us? God has asked us to follow in His footsteps and to carry our cross. One of the values of our God is that He is a faithful God and He requires us to be faithful. How do I know that? Because He has called us to be stewards. [1 Corinthians 4:2] Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. It is required in stewards to be faithful. That is like the first commandment of stewardship. Who would want to have a steward who is unfaithful? Faithfulness is a commitment. It is us telling God that in spite of the challenges in our lives, in spite of people whom we may not like serving together with us in the ministry, or in spite of all our other varied excuses, we will be faithful to do what He has called us to do. Faithfulness is like us telling God "Here am I, send me!" [Isaiah 6:8] and meaning it. Our character is not in our talents but in our faithfulness. 2.
