Prayer Email archive: (01/21/2001) ministers of Christ? |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: ministers of Christ? I've recently covered the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how we can be baptised with the Holy Spirit. If you have received the baptism and the new prayer language, please pray in the spirit regularly because you will become more sensitive in the Spirit and you can pray according to the will of God. There is a lot of power in praying in the spirit. I've also started on a new theme which is serving God in a ministry. If you want God to give you the gifts of the Holy Spirit and to exercise them, you need to be involved in a ministry. The gifts are for the profit of others ... the 9 gifts are what I would call public gifts. And ministry is not for "full-time" ministers only. Ministry is for ordinary believers as well. [Ephesians 4:11-12] 11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Who are these saints that is to do the work of the ministry, who is to be equipped by the five-fold ministers above? These saints are ordinary believers who no longer become just ordinary believers but who become ministers of God, reaching out to others and completing the great commission. Ministry does not just have to be something that you do in church. I remember that when I started as a believer, my ministry was in my school. I started my own morning devotional time in school and invited friends. I shared the gospel with others and brought people to Christ. I took every opportunity to pray for the sick. All these because I am not working for a person but for God. So, it is with ministry. Ask God for a ministry but start where you are. You can be discipling someone else, or reaching out to a friend. Or you can enroll in a ministry in your church. Whichever ministry that you are in, you are serving God and not serving man. We must be careful that we do not enter into any ministry to glorify ourselves. It is only when Christ is lifted up, not when "self" is lifted up, that we can draw people to God. Jesus said in [John 12:32] .. "And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me." 2. New prayer requests: i.
