Prayer Email archive: (01/03/2001) a narrow vision? |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: a narrow vision? [John 14:1] Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. Sometimes we become troubled easily: troubled by cares, troubled by people, by things that happen to us, by our future. Besides becoming troubled, we might even be envious when we look at lives of other people who are prospering without God in their lives. What does the bible say? [Psalm 37:1] Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. God does not want us to be envious. I talked in the last email about developing a vision. It is very difficult to develop a vision when we have a narrow view of the world and a narrow view of God. Do you have a narrow view of God? Do you have abundance mentality or a lack mentality? If others are happy or prosperous, will it diminish your portion in life? God has taught us time and again in the bible that life is not a pie but it is a river, a river of abundance when we are walking in truth and in alignment with God's Word. [Psalm 37:3-6] 3 Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. 4 Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. 6 And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday. God's remedy for a narrow vision is to trust in God. Jesus has also said in John 14:1 to trust in Him. Do you trust in Him? Is your vision too narrow or your God too small? Is He a God that is without honour or integrity who will not fulfill His Word for you in your life? God has commanded and He will fulfill His Word but your responsibility is to believe and to trust. If we cannot trust in God, we will become the most pitiful people in the world because we are believers of a God whom we don't trust, or what we would call "unbelieving believers" (what a paradox!!). [Psalm 1:1-4] 1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Life in God is a river that flows continuously and God has promised that we will prosper in all ways but in the right season. He will make all things beautiful in His time [Ecclesiastes 3:11]. If you have lost anything, God promises not only comfort but restoration and multiplication. Life is not a pie but a river. So, let us not have a narrow view or a narrow vision and ask God to show us how BIG He is, so that our vision for this new millenium will be nothing short of what God has in mind for us. Let us, for this year, swim in the river of God, the river of abundant life! 2.
