(12/15/2000) criteria for receiving the Holy Spirit

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: criteria for receiving the Holy Spirit

[John 14:16-17]
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give
you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for
ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot
receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth
him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and
shall be in you.

We have been talking about the gifts of the Holy
Spirit. Who is the Holy Spirit? He Himself is a gift
from Jesus. When Jesus left to be at the right hand of
the Father, He said that He will not leave us alone,
He will send us Someone Else and that person is the
Holy Spirit.

He is known as the Comforter because He is the One who
will assure us of everything that God has promised us
in His Word and He will be the One who will speak to
us and show us the way.

One of the main criteria that you need to receive the
Holy Spirit is to receive Jesus first. Because the
promise of the Holy Spirit is not to the world but to
believers.

If you have been in this prayer group for some time
but you are not sure of your salvation or you have not
received yet, what are you waiting for? God is waiting
for you. He has been waiting all along and knocking at
the door of your hearts.

Many of us are waiting for answers in our minds. We
need to understand everything before we believe. Then
you will be very disappointed. You cannot use your
mind to understand the things of the spirit. You need
to use your spirit. In order to do that, you need to
believe first.

Just take a step of faith and believe. God always move
by us taking a step forward towards Him and that is
called faith.

It requires more faith to be an unbeliever than to be
a believer. How can you believe that the world came
from a big bang or we came from monkeys? We don't see
evolution now and yet we believe in theories that men
have created. Mathematicians will find it impossible
to explain the big bang, how everything came out of
existence, human cells formed together to create
humans, trees and land came together by chance.

We all take risks in this world. There is so much
uncertainty and everything seems to be relative. If
you do not have anything absolute to stand on, you
will not be standing on anything. God provides us with
the answers because He is the absolute. His promises
are always "Yea and Amen". He has a plan for us and He
has written it down in His Word and He has promised us
that He will not lie. All we need to do is to receive.
When we receive, He will open up to us a whole new
world that we have never seen before. But this new
world is not the same as your physical world that you
live in. This is a spiritual world where God begins to
open up all His promises, His plans and His perfect
will in our lives.

The only thing that hinders us from moving into this
new world is our will. It begins with a "Yes, I will
receive You Lord and call You God of my life." Once
you take that step of faith, God will start to carry
you and you will no longer be walking alone. To me,
that is the greatest gift.

If you have said "Yes" for the first time or you want
to renew your dedication to God, say this prayer after
me:

"Father in Heaven,
I believe that Jesus died on the Cross for my sins and
He rose again on the third day. I believe in You
Father, in Your Son and in Your Holy Spirit. Jesus, I
want to receive You into my life to be my personal
Saviour, to walk with me and to talk with me and to
take the rest of the journey of my life with me. I
believe that when I receive You I receive eternal
life. I invite You to come into my heart right now and
to change me. I renounce all other gods in my life and
declare that I now belong to the One and Living God.
In Jesus' Name, I pray, Amen".
