        (12/11/2000) His manifest presence

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: His manifest presence

[1 Corinthians 4:20]
For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power.

[1 Thessalonians 1:5,6]
5 For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but
also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much
assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among
you for your sake.
6 And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord,
having received the word in much affliction, with joy
of the Holy Ghost.

I mentioned in the last email why it is so important
to be baptised and filled with the Holy Ghost, it is
so that we can be powerful witnesses of Christ [Acts
1:8
]

God does not want us just to be people who are
equipped with His Word only, but He wants to manifest
Himself through us because the gospel comes not in
word only but in power also. God desires to manifest
Himself to people because He is Almighty God and He
can meet us at our needs supernaturally.

What are these gifts? They are found in [1 Corinthians
12:8-10
]
8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of
wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same
Spirit;
9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the
gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
10 To another the working of miracles; to another
prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another
divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation
of tongues:

These can be categorised as follows:
i. Gifts of utterance - gifts that say something
-- prophecy, divers kinds of tongues, interpretation
of tongues
ii. Gifts of power - gifts that do something
-- faith, gifts of healing, working of miracles
iii. Gifts of revelation - gifts that reveal something
-- word of wisdom, word of knowledge, discerning of
spirits

Many people are sick or in need and they turn to other
religions. If they cannot see a powerful God in Jesus
through us, they will not come to us for help. You see
that the New Testament Christians were able to meet
all kinds of needs because they were full of the power
of the Holy Spirit. Jesus Himself came not in word
only but in power. He turned water into wine (working
of miracles)
, He healed the sick (gifts of healing),
He witnessed to the Samaritan woman at the well by
telling her about her past (word of knowledge).

[John 14:12]
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and
the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I
speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in
me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father
in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth
on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and
greater works than these shall he do; because I go
unto my Father.

Jesus has said, greater works than these shall we do.
Do we believe Him? He has also said that His works
testify of the manifest presence of God. Let us desire
for that manifest presence of God so that we can be
powerful witnesses of Him and bring the manifest
presence of God to a lost world.
