Prayer Email archive: (11/16/2000) guarding your heart and tongue |
Hello prayer warriors,
1. Prayer note: guarding your heart and tongue We talked in the last email about protecting our spirit from contamination. Another way that we can defile ourselves is when we do not guard our heart. It is when we let go and say it is okay to dwell on the negatives and on hopelessness. What happens when we do that? [Proverbs 13:12a] Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: [Proverbs 12:25a] Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: [Proverbs 18:14] The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? Sometimes we undermine what letting go of our emotions and letting our frustrations build up do to us and our spirit. We can wound our spirit. The negative things that we let into our lives can crush us, break us, and then we find life unbearable ... because who can bear a wounded spirit? We need to guard and protect our hearts and our tongue. [Proverbs 3:23-24] Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. How do we do that? Let's continue reading Proverbs 3. [Proverbs 3:25-28] 25 Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you. 26 Make level (or consider the) paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm. 27 Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil. We do that by looking straight ahead at Jesus and putting hope ahead of us. By not swerving to the right or to the left. It is only when we let go of hope that our heart will slip. 2. New prayer requests: i. A divine mate -- guest Pray that the Lord blesses me with the man that He has prepared for me. Pray that He blesses me with a man that I thought only existed in my dreams. Pray that I meet this man & we fall in love & get married & have children & live the rest of our lives happy & in love in Jesus name. I will never stop praising the Lord's name for this blessing that He is about to give me. And I will treat this man like he deserves to be treated & he will treat me the same way. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=1490&table=prayer ii. Pray for my son & his salvation -- guest Pray for my son Jimbo-15years old. Because of his father's abandonment, he has feelings of hurt, disappointment. It has been a year since he has spoken or seen his father. My son is a victim of a very nasty divorce. He has somehow acquired a rebellious spirit. I love my son with all my heart, he is my first born. The pain that he feels, I also feel too. I have raised him in the church & I always talk to him about the Lord. His heart is saddened & he has gone into a state of depression. I know God is Mighty & that He will come through for us. Pray for my son deliverance, my deliverance, my son's father salvation. I need God right now! I feel alone, helpless, & I don't know what to do anymore. http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=1491&table=prayer iii. pray for me concerning my walk with God -- guest I was a backslider for 10 years. Now that I have returned to my Father, my life has been restored. Sometimes, I cannot get in the mode of reading the word or praying. Some days I am so zealous for God & then there are days where my mind is drifting. I have a wonderful spirit of worship, where I spend time alone praising God for He has done for me. However, I know that I am not where He wants me to be. I think, well maybe it's my church. I realize that satan comes to attack us through our minds with the cares of this world. Pray that God will give me the breakthrough that I so desire. I want to be committed to God... http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=1492&table=prayer iv. overweight, fatigued & feeling suicidal! -- guest Please pray for me!! I have had a weight problem all of my life. Now that I am older, it is getting worse. I have tried every diet from diet pills to starvation. Nothing is working. I am always tired. I know this is not healthy. Yet & still I cannot get control of eating habits. Please pray for me, I desire so much to lose weight without going through extreme measures. It causes me to go into a state of depression. where I begin to eat more. Sometimes, I feel suicidal, Maybe I should just end this. I am tormented day & night. I need a special touch from God!!Pray for me!! http://mydevotion.com/logos/asp/viewpyrrep.asp?forumid=5&forumtype=2&topicid=1496&table=prayer v. Cousin -- dawn Pray for me & my husband Michael. We have been asked by my aunt to allow my cousin, Barbara, to come & live with us. Barbara, now 28, has been on drugs most of her life. My husband was delivered of drugs 9 years ago & my aunt feels that he will be able to help my cousin by experience & that a change in enviroment to get her away from the people she does the drugs with will help her. We agree with her reasoning but are worried were numerous rehabs. have failed, how will we succeed? She has done drugs for about 16 years & is not completely there mentally. We are praying for God's guidance. We want HIS will done. We also have 3 small children at home & are worried about what she might bring into our home. Also our finances are unstable to bring another person into our home. I love my cousin so much & want her to succeed at this battle. Also pray that she heeds to the voice of HIS SPIRT calling for her. dmw0608@peoplescom.net 3.
