        (04/19/2000) Remembering the good things

hello prayer warriors,

1. prayer note: Remembering the good things

[Philippians 4:8] Finally, brethren, whatsoever things
are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever
things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of
good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be
any praise, think on these things.

It is so easy for us to remember the bad. It is easier
to be critical than to be thinking of the good things
in a situation or in a person.

The more I read about the children of Israel in the
wilderness in the old testament, the more I thought
how similar some of my reactions. The children of
Israel murmured about the food in the beginning of the
chapter, they repented. Then when they felt
discouraged along the journey, the more they focussed
on all the negative things, the murmuring about the
food, the water, the journey and practically
everything came back because they allowed the negative
things to have the better of them and rob them of
their blessings.

[Numbers 21:4,5]
4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of
the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul
of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

5 And the people spake against God, and against
Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to
die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither
is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light
bread.

Do we have to be happy only when the situation is
perfect? Only when we have everything that we have
ever asked for from God fulfilled? Only when this or
that happens?

When we are waiting for God to bring some of the
promises in our lives to past, what should we do?
Murmur and complain until God brings it to pass? No,
if He has promised, He shall bring it to pass and
after we have prayed for the promise, we give thanks
continually until the promise is fulfilled. No more
pleading, no more murmuring, but thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving in Greek is eucharistia which means full
of grace. When we give thanks, we enter into grace.

2. New prayer requests:
i. For Steven Mahon, brutally beaten -- pauline
This weekend in Sydney Australia, Steven, a 17 year
old with a bountiful life was set upon by a group of
teenagers, 15 strong, and beaten. He was taken to
hospital with lead piping piercing his skull, leaving
him with brain injuries so horrific, that he would
never recover. Yesterday, his parents agreed to cease
his life support system.
Please join with me in praying that the attackers will
be brought to justice, for comfort and continued
strength for his family, in thanksgiving for this
young man's positive influence in the short time he
walked God's earth.
May Steven delight in the Lord's House forever.

ii. down payment, please pray -- melissa
Hi every one,
I hope today is finding all of you well. I am writing
to ask you to stand in agreement with me. Today we are
suppose to sign the agreement for the house. We were
suppose to give the money for the down payment. We
will not have it for a few weeks. We have a little bit
of it to pay them today but I mean little bit.
My husband is doing the loan for them and they need to
show that they have the money for the home. We pay our
tithes and the word promises to give back ten fold ,so
I am standing on that. I believe this house is of God
and so some how, some way that money will just show
up, my God is a God that supplies ALL my needs. So I
ask this morning to please take a moment and stand in
agreement with me on this situation.

3. Prayer update
i. Praise Report on Gideon -- Melissa
(waihun: this is an excerpt)
I am so happy to report that Gideon is doing great! He
is gaining weight, taking more milk now and is
receiving no oxygen and only on a rate of 7%. When my
pink eye is gone I can go up and see him and they have
told me I get to hold him.:))
I was told by the doctor to expect Gideon to come home
in May. It is so awesome when you give completely
every thing over to God. I have to add though, for
some reason it is one of the hardest things to do.
Thank you for your prayers and things that have been
sent to me, poems ( etc.)
