        (10/26/2000) renewing our minds

Hello prayer warriors,

1. Prayer note: renewing our minds

[Ephesians 4:23-24]
23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is
created in righteousness and true holiness.

We've talked about controlling our thoughts but the
journey should start with renewing of our minds. We
renew our minds by putting on this new man. Who is
this new man?

This new man is the new heart and the new spirit that
we receive when we receive Jesus into our lives. The
first thing we need to recognise is our new identity.

Even in Old Testament times, God changes people (even
though they are not spirit-filled the way we are now)

by calling them the way He sees them and not the way
they see themselves.

[Genesis 22:27-28]
And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said,
Jacob. And he said, Thy name shall be called no more
Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power
with God and with men, and hast prevailed.

Before God can change Jacob, He has to change the way
he looked at himself. Jacob means manipulator but God
called him Israel and called him a prince.

Many times the problem is the way we see ourselves and
how we limit ourselves with our mind.

[Proverbs 23:7a]
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he

We've got to change the way we look at ourselves as
how God sees us, a prince, a son, an overcomer, the
apple of His eye and an inheriter of all God's
promises, not someone who is defeated, ashamed,
guilt-ridden, fearful or who is a loser.

[2 Corinthians 5:17]
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new
creature: old things are passed away; behold, all
things are become new.

Once we see things that way, we can start really
putting on the new man.

2. New prayer requests:
i. Prayer request -- gregledbetter
My name is Greg, & for about the last year, my mother
has been unemployed, for health reasons. She has been
seeking monetary hand outs which have not been easy
for me, my brother or my sister to send. Mom has been
smoking for most of her life, & in my heart, I knew
where most of any monies would go, & it wouldn't be
for rent, utilities or groceries, but for the smokes.
My mom's side of the family has turned away from us to
a great extent. I just would pray that Mom would
understand that her children do not hate her or not
want to help, but we are trying to do for ourselves.
Last Friday, my brother quit a job. He's been sick for
a while, but I think this time, it has some mental
overtones with it. He has acquired a sort of violent
streak, where he could be considered dangerous. Pray
for his safety, & that somehow, he would remember that
there is a God Who loves & cares for him.

ii. Pray for me -- neka
Pray for me I am starting my own business as a Mary
Kay Consultant & I am hoping to be blessed so that I
may be a blessing to God. Also pray for my friend,
Carl, he is struggling with beginning his christian
walk with God & the enemy keeps distracting him from
God. Sincerely, Shaneka Dunn

iii. Healing of my heart -- cheritomp
I'm in need of healing of my heart. I've been married
for 8 yrs. Separated from my husband for 2 1/2 years &
the sole supporter & care giver of a beautiful 3yr old
daughter. My husband carries a lot of guilt & hurt
from our years together, even though I've forgiven him
for all that he's done while we were together. As for
me, I carry hurts from all that was done to me while
we were married. Now, my 3 yr. she's my main concern.
She'll never know her father because we separated just
when she turned 1yr. Because of a new relationship
that my husband is in right now she can't call or talk
to him. We also live in two different states but we're
just two hours apart. Your prayers & any advise would
be most appreciated. cheritomp

3. Prayer update:
i. Update -- linda812
For those who has been praying & fasting, God is
moving by his spirit. My pastor has more of an
anointing -God's power is being revealed in each
service. Also a pastor from London England sent for my
pastor to preach in a conference. Please don't stop
praying & fasting with me on Fridays –the Conference
is in November the last two weeks. My pastor’s health
is doing better. Pray for our ministry while our
leader leaves because this is a first beginning of God
making full proof of his ministry.

ii. Praise report for Bradley -- christiandeb
Bradley came home from hospital to-day. He is still on
antibiotics & is a bit weak, but is much better.

iii. Continue to pray for my sister, Michelle Baker --
bina
There have been some obstacles we've faced over the
weekend, but as always...God has prevailed, when we
thought hope was lost prayers were answered & God's
mighty hand of mercy continues to comfort & heal my
sister. Most of all continue to pray for her soul &
others in the hospital who have seen these wonderful
miracles of healing that God is performing in her
life. My mother (who is not a christian) has praised
the Lord on several occasions (AMEN!!!!!), my prayer
is all will see God's grace & mercy & accept Him into
their lives.

configuring the new site.
