   Verse Questions:
        Acts 2:47

I have a question and would like some insight. Looking at this verse, is church membership necessary? Are there Bible verses that can help me in this indecision in my life?

I do not have a permanent church home yet, but the Bible says that we should "not forsake the assembling of ourselves together," in the book of Hebrews (v10:25). As far as Church membership, at one time or another I feel that it's necessary just for the sake of having a Church covering, and also for our own growth and development as "believers."

the church is a the body of believers, not a building. or a denomination...the church was brought together after the ressurection and ascention of christ

The word "church" is no where in this verse in the original language. Church membership has never and will never save anyone. Jesus and He alone saves - Acts 4:12. Now, there are somethings which are necessary to take advantage of His sacrifice, but "church" membership is not one of them.

'The lord added to the church daily', those who received salvation by believing in His son Jesus Christ. Once you are born again you become part of the church, the body of Christ, the bride waiting in expectation for the second coming of Christ. In the mean time we are directed by God to be enforcers of His will through prayer, praying in 'agreement' and standing in the 'gap', to fellowship with other believers, to grow, be encouraged, and use our gifts to encourage others and support the work of God. To worship Him in the giving of our tithes and offerings and the coming together in spirit and in truth. We can do the above as an adherent or non-member but you must ask yourself why you dont want to show commitment to your brothers and sisters in Christ within the local church. Seek the face of God for where he wonts you to be and be willing to commit, not just receive the blessing on the church but to be a blessing to them.
