   Verse Questions:
        Exodus 20:13

It is not that I particularly
picked this one commandment above the others because I 'liked' it, but rather I need to hear insight from others on it's application. I have a friend who believes it applies to ALL living creatures and wants to know how I feel about this. I have always believed that the commandments dealt with our behaviour toward our fellow human beings and did not consider that they might also be addressing our behaviour toward other creatures. Don't get me wrong, I Do love animals, but I don't seem to have the same veiwpoint as this friend. I want to be careful how I answer his question about my feelings on his interpretation of this verse.

He also ordained war to punish disobedient nations... or the death penalty for murderers, but even there we are not to take the "law" into our own hands but to first seek God, then to go through the courts of the nation (or state)...

God never ordained us to be a "law unto ourself" but to be in obedience to the proper government authourites,

I think this is why our founding fathers wanted a three headed government...

I'm no expert by any means, but God accepted burnt offerings from Moses and asked for the first calf. Jesus sent bad spirits into the pigs that ran off a cliff. I don't think God meant it to apply to animals.
