   Verse Questions:
        John 1:2

I find this verse hard to understand. I think {the same} means {Jesus} was in the beginning with God.

It does mean Jesus. If you go back to Gen 1:26 it says let US make man in OUR image... so Jesus was there in the beginning.

The second person of the Trinity, The Son, who became incarnate as Jesus is God and therefore eternal. He was with God in the beginning. He was the creator of all things and without him nothing was made.

Truly "Word' is referring to Jesus. As we read in John, [John 1:14] states that "the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory..." How wonderful to know that Jesus Christ truly is God!

On the same strand, David mentions in various parts of Psalms a presence other than God, implying Jesus. While David existed many many years before Jesus' birth, it is quite possible that God communicated through David, His plan for eternal life through salvation before it even happened.

Buzz, You are quite right, the Same does mean Jesus! Look to [John 1:10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. If you can, set aside some time each day to meditate on the Word. Pray for understanding, we have at our disposal the greatest teacher since Jesus, The Holy Spirit. Give him free reign in your heart and he will guide you. God Bless You.

It's quite difficult to understand God and His ways. Read your Bible. I think it's in [Isa 55:9]. The concept of God is sometimes so complex and radical that those who are not seeking Him with faith, stumbles and fall. A being so powerful and was the One that created everything, yet most of the time we cannot feel His tangible presence. It's something like the force of gravity. We can't see it but it's there. We can choose to disregard it and believe we'll be able to stay afloat after jumping from a cliff. It's the same with [John 1:2]. Here I choose to believe that the Bible is from God and God's Word (the Bible) was already planned from the beginning. The oracles was only written down physically by men later. I found that those who has difficulty understanding this verse mostly are those that already has a barrier/problem in their walk with God. Seek God's kingdom first and focus on the priorities and discard these trivial things. I have heard cases where people just got the answers to all these trivial questions by simply asking God or after fire baptism. Have you been baptised in fire yet?
May God bless you and show you the way.
